The Best Luxury Resorts and Spas in Maldives

The Maldives is a group of twenty six atolls, and the country is comprised of over 1100 islets - and when you understand this, it makes the fact that on luxury vacation in the Maldives you enjoy the privacy of your own entire island, a lot more credible! The hundreds of islands of the Maldives range from about 2.5km to just 150m across, and you can stay in luxury on your own desert island in any number of places. Understandably, tourism accounts for around 28% of the Maldives' GDP, and there is a larger concentration of luxury hotels on these islands than just about anywhere else in the world. This is why we have compiled our guide to the cream of the crop.

When looking at staying in the Maldives, it is important to note that the facilities at the hotel you choose to stay at are the only ones you have access to for the duration of your trip - unless you choose a resort that also offers boat hire, in which case you can transport yourself around the islands. This makes it incredibly important to make sure that the luxury resort in the Maldives can take care of all of the equipment for your stay. Will you want to go scuba diving? Do you want to fish, and will you need to rent gear for that? What else do you want to do? And how well planned are you when you pack your suitcases?!

If you are looking to get away from the world, the Maldives is one of the best and most luxurious and beautiful places to do it. You will want to make sure that your hotel caters to few people - generally the upper end of the price scale when it comes to luxury accommodation in the Maldives means that the resort is smaller.

One of the closest luxury hotels in the Maldives to Male International Airport is the Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru. You reach the resort by speedboat, which you will find to be intimate and eco-friendly. At this resort you can scuba dive, wind surf, sail a catamaran, canoe, play beach volleyball, and also go big game fishing. The accommodation at this Maldives luxury resort is in bungalows. Thee are 48 of these, and they feature an open terrace per villa, a private landscaped garden and private sundeck. The recessed sitting area and four poster bed make you feel in the lap of luxury for every minute.

Holiday Island is another excellent Maldives luxury resort, located on Dhiffushi island in the southern Alif Atoll. This is a more secluded island than Vabbinfaru, up to 2 1/2hrs from Male by speedboat, although you can reach it in 30 minutes by seaplane. The accommodation at Holiday Island features antique furniture and paintings by local artists, helping to support the local economy in areas other than tourism. There are 142 beautiful seaside rooms with luxurious amenities. There is also a wealth of activities here, including diving, wind surfing, catamarans, parasailing, wakeboarding, ringo riding, submarine diving, aerobics and tennis, just to name a few.

Shangri-La's Vililingi Resort in the Maldives, due for completion in the end of 2008, is set on a three kilometer long island with almost two kilometers of white sandy beaches. The accommodation will range from tropical treehouse villas to private ocean retreats, and there are three natural lagoons on the island as well as the ocean to make use of. The luxury accommodation will be appointed in five distinct styles, and will have ipod charging docks and units, among other luxuries.

If you are travelling to the Maldives, it pays to do a little research, as it isn't possible to walk to the next hotel over if you aren't satisfied! Go for the Maldives luxury spas for an unforgettable experience.

Going For Luxury, Rather Than Comfort In Spain

Anna Stenning

There is nothing more satisfying than booking luxury villas in Spain, to enjoy a truly relaxing and classy holiday. Many people will find that when visiting somewhere like Spain the atmosphere is very relaxed and the scenery is nothing short of breathtaking. These villas have become very affordable with more people being given the opportunity to experience the luxuries of a villa, having personal services, whilst enjoying the privacy of using their own kitchen facilities.

Spain is famous for its almost year round sunshine and golden sandy beaches. Add to this the deep sea and exotic cuisines, and you are in Mediterranean heaven. Most parts of Spain are English speaking; therefore, there would be no real problems with moving to this country. However, this does not rule out the need to learn Spanish as a language before deciding to live there. Many who buy a property are opting for luxury villas in Spain, as recent developments will have seen their prices drop down.

Opting to buy luxury villas in Spain may well turn out to be a sound investment, especially for those who are considering the option of using this as a retirement plan. Owning a villa is a dream come true for many people, especially if it is in Spain, however, this can very quickly go wrong if the right amount of research and knowledge has not be completed prior to buying one. There are different procedures, rules and regulations to follow Spain, and must be adhered to otherwise your dreams of buying that special and cheap villa may not happen at all.

Before the purchasing process you will need to have in place a 20 - 30 percent deposit - the more you have the better it will be. Have an extra amount saved as with buying any Spanish property, you find that extra fees and charges will incur, which will amount to around 12 percent. This is something that is standard in Spain, as this covers legal fees, stamp duty, taxes, land registry, property registry etc.

Always use a good agent; this is something you almost definitely need to shop around for, as you may find that the Spanish estate agents have a very good reputation for their services. However, there are agents are very good at conning people; therefore, it is always a good idea to opt for a renowned and reputable agent with a good record of accomplishment of client services. With this in mind, it is a good not to go for the agents solicitors and find your own independent solicitor as they are more likely to be reliable and you would not have to face the language barrier.

It is always good to find your own lawyer as agency solicitors will charge more. Search for a Spanish lawyer who is English speaking, so then you are able to rely on someone who is familiar with the Spanish terms and conditions to buying a property and who is able to give you the all clear before signing any documents.
Consider talking to a financial advisor before deciding to make the move in Spain. You will need to establish whether you are able to afford the repayments and if you will have enough reserve just in case you need to dig into your savings. You will need to establish whether you are financially ready to make the jump, so consider this carefully beforehand.

Finally, now that you have chosen your house/apartment/luxury villa in Spain, you will need to apply for your NIE number, which is your tax code. This is needed before buying anything or signing any deeds. Without this, you will not be able to claim complete ownership of the property. Make the application early, as they take a couple of weeks to complete, so it is a good idea to have this ready.

Staying In Style In Las Vegas

Albert Alexander

The Las Vegas Hilton is one of the more luxurious offerings on the Vegas Strip. This hotel has a lot to offer its guests by way of luxury and amenities including several packages that are amazingly generous by comparison to most other hotels along the strip. If you aren't seeing a package that is appealing to you be sure to call and see if you might be able to negotiate a more suitable package.

In addition to world class accommodations and a fully functional casino the Las Vegas Hilton also has some of the best shows running along the strip. Current acts include the likes of Barry Manilow and Menopause the Musical. Future acts include big names such as Johnny Mathis and the Asian Fusion concert series.

Perhaps the most famous attraction at the Las Vegas Hilton however is the Star Trek Experience. The experience is completely out of this world and will have you flying through space in a completely immersive experience that even those who weren't serious fans of the show can appreciate. This is like nothing you've ever experienced before or are likely to enjoy again. There is also a museum that is home to many items from the television series as well as the movies.

This is a great addition to your vacation experience even at the rather hefty price tag it commands ($34.99 for adults and $31.99 for children as of this writing and subject to change). If you're going to splurge on one thing during your stay at the Las Vegas Hilton I highly recommend that this be that one thing. There is also the Nemesis Package, which will allow for a reduced rate when purchasing tickets for the Star Trek Experience along with a two-night hotel stay.

Keep in mind if you're actually coming to Las Vegas for the gambling and not to go Trekking through the galaxy, the casino offers tournaments rather regularly and you should really check to be sure there isn't a tournament that interests you during your stay or around the times you are considering your stay.

It is fairly safe to say that while there are many fun things to do in Vegas these hotels and casinos would really appreciate your business in the casino seats rather than watching the shows, riding the rides, and playing the games.

The Las Vegas Hilton also has a full service spa and offers some attractive spa packages to its guests. You'd be doing your body a favor to check out the many packages that are available and combining them in order to get the maximum value for your spa dollar along with your spa visit. You might also consider trying to work a spa comp into your package when booking your room. You'll never know unless you ask.

There is all manner of shopping at the Las Vegas Hilton and you should be able to find nice gifts for others as well as a few nice gifts for yourself. If you don't find what you're looking for here you are close enough to other shopping opportunities, if you drag yourself away from the spa that is that it's no serious problem to go out and find those perfect gifts, trinkets, and tokens of your good time while visiting Las Vegas. Of course, you simply must visit the Barry Manilow store while you're here and have fun playing with all the nifty toys inside. You also never know when you'll find that perfect gift for friends and family and this store may be the ideal place to look.

If you're looking for a completely luxurious experience for you stay in Las Vegas there are few places that will suit you better than the Las Vegas Hilton. The good news is that you can arrange for your luxurious treatment to be had at a fraction of the price it would cost elsewhere if you pay careful attention to the specials that are available and book accordingly.

How to Save Money on Your Las Vegas Vacation

Las Vegas is a popular travel destination and it's no wonder. With casinos, shows and 24-hour entertainment, Las Vegas offers the kind of non-stop action that thrill seekers love on their vacations. The only problem is that a Vegas vacation can get expensive.

Between money for entertainment, gambling, food and lodging, the expenses can stack up fast. But with a little bit of planning you can save a lot of money on your Vegas vacation. Here's what you need to know.

The first step to saving money when you travel to Las Vegas is to set a budget before you go. Your budget should include money for food, money for entertainment and, if you wish, money for gambling. Keep in mind that there are a lot of things to do in Las Vegas that don't involve gambling. You can take advantage of the other venues and save a lot of money by cutting gambling out entirely. If you do plan to gamble, make sure to set a specific amount of money aside. This way, once you reach that limit, win or lose, you know that it's time to stop gambling.

It used to be that hotels, restaurants and other venues in Vegas had very low prices because the tourism industry wanted people to come to the city to spend money in the casinos. And while it's true that things in Las Vegas aren't as cheap as they once were, you can still find some deals. Hotels often offer discounts if you plan your trip for the middle of the week. Make sure to compare prices using your favorite online travel service when you plan your travel dates. Las Vegas has at least one convention a month for various groups, and during these weeks the prices on hotels can go up.

To save even more money, look for hotel packages of two-day, three-day or week-long stays. If you buy a package for a specific number of nights, you'll often end up paying less. If you were just planning on staying one night, you might be better off staying two nights with a package deal. Because Vegas is such a popular tourist destination, you can find special promotions on Vegas hotels and packages almost any time of year. Of course, you'll want to leave plenty of time to shop around for the best package deals, and you'll want to book early to get the best prices.

If you're not married to staying on the strip, you may be able to save even more money by exploring the downtown hotels or weekly motels. These locations are frequented by budget travelers who want to save money on lodging. These hotels often have great package deals to attract more visitors and many offer shuttle service to the strip as well as to the downtown area of Vegas.

Even if you don't gamble, the casinos can provide some memorable dining experiences. Before you leave for your trip, buy a budget guide to Las Vegas travel and check out the dining section. This book will give you a good overview of your many options on and off the strip. Weekday buffets at casinos can be a good way to get large meals. Most casinos offer buffets and some even serve breakfast. If you don't want to go the buffet route, your cheapest options will be the sandwich shops and inexpensive diners in town.

If you plan on seeing a show, you can save money by planning ahead and getting your tickets early. This way, you'll be able to get great seats to see the entertainment that you want without paying a high price. Refer to your budget Vegas travel guide for more help on picking a show within your budget.

Choosing The Best Travel Accommodation

Autor: 1rich1

Most travelers spend more time in airline ticket reservations and bargains but less time in choosing the right accommodations. Thus they may end up on the wrong side of the bed during their stay.

To get the most out of your hotel accommodations, remember to book as early as possible and make your dates more flexible. Hotels that specialize business people will consider weekends as off season. Family vacationers could tap into these special packages during weekends. Primarily, you should choose your hotel based on name, amenities, features, price, packages and location.

Here are some considerations in choosing your best travel accommodations:

1. Accommodations should be family-friendly. Always ask if your hotel offers children activity areas with educational and fun activities supervised by duly-trained care-givers.

2. Your hotel should provide a swimming pool for children, daycare service, crib rental and child-proof electrical outlets.

3. Stay in a hotel that has electronic room-key cards and has a security viewer installed on their doors.

4. Make it a priority to choose a room on the upper floor.

5. If you're the one who likes to spend more time in your hotel room and the balcony, you should ask for the available amenities and the conditions of the surrounding environment.

6. Depending on whether you're on a private or business trip, ask your hotel about the availability of laundry service, hair dryers, coffee makers, newspapers, free meals, fax machine, bar, cable television, parking, shuttle service, internet connection, etc.

7. The hotel property layout and its location may speak more of its surrounding environment. Noisy locations such as construction on adjacent property, car traffic and noisy waterfalls are not specified on hotel flyers. So be sure to ask about it.

8. Beautifully landscaped surroundings with trees, flowers and inner courts also enhance your travel pleasure. Moreover, gift shops and restaurants all add up to a wonderful travel experience.

9. The location of your hotel with respect to main attraction is equally important. It could save you money on taxi and bus fare.

10. Make sure that the room service is provided 24 hours a day.

11. Check out the room itself. Is it brightly colored or classical? It sets the mood of your travel.

In order to get the most out of your travel, whether for business or family vacations, be sure to know everything about the hotel you are planning to check in to. Ask friends and relatives who have been there. Don't just depend on the hotel's webpage which is undoubtedly biased. Having to stay in a hotel which you don't like could ruin your trip.

What to Look for in a Luxury Hotel

Author: Frank Demming

Staying at a hotel can be one of the best, and most relaxing experiences that many people will ever have, especially if the hotel of choice is a luxury hotel. Finding a luxury hotel that will meet your vacationing or weekend getaway needs may take a little digging, but it will be well worth it. What is a Luxury Hotel? Hotels are given a rating from zero to five stars- five star rating being the best. When a luxury hotel is rated, there are different things about it that are given a rating, and the rating is averaged to give it the hotel star rating. In the United States, Europe, and England, there are star ratings for hotels, though each area uses a slightly different way to rate them. The star rating is meant to help people who want to choose a luxury hotel based on certain criteria. Room size, comfort level of the room and especially the bed, noise level audible in the room, cleanliness, décor, amenities provided, and service of the luxury hotel staff are all rated during the overall process of reviewing the luxury hotel. The bottom line, though, is that if you want a luxury hotel, you will want to look for a four star rating at the least, and possibly a five star rating. The star rating isn't the only thing which distinguishes a luxury hotel from other hotels. Most often a hotel will be considered a luxury hotel if the rating is at least four, and there are other unique things about the luxury hotel, such as a particular focus or special perks that are not common to other hotels that aren't considered to be in the luxury hotel category. Having a spa, in room massage, offering child care, and even having a special theme throughout the hotel may help as one establishment is deemed a luxury hotel . Special Perks Usually a luxury hotel will offer special perks. You may be able to find a luxury hotel that will offer perks and amenities in almost any area including family fun, romantic adventure, and exotic treatments. Finding what you want in a luxury hotel can make your vacation time or weekend getaway even more memorable. There is a luxury hotel option available in many price ranges and one can be found by looking for the star rating. Make sure when you look at the rating of a luxury hotel, you look at the ratings for the individual categories that have been rated. If comfort and room service are more important to you than space and a blow dryer, then give those things precedence over the other. Give yourself the vacation you deserve with all the comforts you will want when you're away from home. A luxury hotel will help you do just that. With the best in ratings, the best in perks, and the amenities offered that mean a lot to you as you relax and enjoy yourself, a luxury hotel will make your time away even better than it would have been. Staying at a luxury hotel will mean that you are giving yourself the best there is to offer. A luxury hotel is available for your convenience and in many price ranges. A luxury hotel will offer the best - it's up to you to take it.

Extremely Expensive Luxury Hotel Rooms

Author: Frank Demming

You’ve always wanted to spend some time being pampered and catered to, and the idea of going to a luxury hotel has crossed your mind more than once. Lots of people want to go to a luxury hotel, and if you plan things right, it’s easy to be able to afford a trip to the normal, average luxury hotel. But booking one of the most expensive luxury hotel rooms, however, is a lot more difficult and requires that you own a lot of money, or have a really, really wealthy friend or two.

The Hugh Hefner Room

At the Palms Casino Resort in the ever wonderful Las Vegas, home of more than one luxury hotel, there is the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa. This luxury hotel room was designed by Hugh himself and includes a number of beautiful accents, including ceiling mirrors, its own exercise room, a sauna, a terrace pool, and, of course, Hugh’s signature revolving bed is prominent in this luxury hotel. While there are plenty of luxury hotel rooms in the Fantasy Tower of the Palms Casino Resort, the Hugh Hefner suite is the most expensive and costs a whopping $40,000 a night. For that price Playboy bunnies better come with this luxury hotel room!

Ty Warner Penthouse

Slightly less expensive than the Hugh suite is the luxury hotel room located at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York. This room is on the 52nd floor and includes onyx bathroom floors, a shark skin coffee table, and gold thread curtains. The luxury hotel room walls are inlaid with mother of pearl and there is even a waterfall in a special attached luxury hotel room known as the Zen room. This luxury hotel room also includes an in-room masseuse, a Rolls Royce for the visit, complete with chauffeur, and a 24 hour butler. This room costs you $30,000 a night.

The Bridge Suite

In the beautiful Caribbean island of Nassau lies the Atlantis Hotel. This beautiful luxury hotel has a very interesting bridge that connects the two parts of the hotel, and the bridge is actually a luxury hotel room. This luxury hotel room includes a huge entertainment center, a 40 foot bar lounge, marble baths, and a 24 hour butler and will set you back $25,000 a night.

Imperial Suite

In Geneva lies the President Wilson Hotel. This luxury hotel has a suite known as the Imperial suite. The luxury hotel imperial suite has bullet proof glass and bedside alarm buttons, just in case you’re worried about being attacked, and the luxury hotel room also has a beautiful Steinway piano and a dining room that can seat 26 guests. This suite costs you $23,000 a night.

There are many different types of luxury hotel rooms, but these are known as the best of the best, simply due to the price tag that accompanies them. If you’re looking to spend a fortune, or if you’ve ever wanted to really be pampered, these luxury hotels room options are the perfect luxury hotel rooms for you to consider spending your money on!

Luxury Hotels Las Vegas are the Reason for the Increase in Toursim Dollars in Nevada

The state of Nevada has done several things in the last ten years to increase tourist visitations including the expansion of legalized gambling, the construction of high end stores and entertainment facilities, and an increase in flights to a from airports in the state; however, with the construction of dozens of luxury hotels, Las Vegas has become the central focal point of Nevada’s push towards an increase in tourist money entering the local economy. They do this by offering unique experiences, high end amenities, and luxurious and spacious suites.

By building these hotels the city has not only dramatically increased the available rooms for potential tourists, they have increased the overall experience that these tourists have. These hotels offer more amenities, larger casinos, luxurious suites, and expansive creativity with structure and design. All these elements work together to not only bring more tourists to the city, but to increase the overall financial quality of those tourists. Therefore, not only are more tourists visiting the area, but they are wealthier than typical tourists and spend more money, thus further driving the local economy.

The luxury hotels of Las Vegas have become world famous. Architects, owners, and investors have done everything possible to make every hotel a unique experience from the first step into the lobby. Establishments offer spectacular light and laser shows, phenomenal water fountain displays, and dramatic and impressive architecture. Various hotels boast of incredible recreations of the New York City skyline, the gardens of Babylon, the Great Pyramids of Giza, and spectacular light and water shows that operate on any hourly basis. All of these attractions draw millions of visitors a year that simply want to view these amazing structures. For the average visitor this experience is like visiting five cities in one trip.

With all the luxury hotels, Las Vegas has become a high end amenities mecca. Most of the newly constructed facilities offer so many amenities that they are considered to be all inclusive resorts. These amenities include five and four star restaurants (more than half a dozen hotels in Las Vegas can boast of two five star restaurants), shops that cater to wealthy clients (clothing stores, jewelry shops, and electronic retailers), and expensive salons, masseuses, and spas. All of these stores and facilities exist because there is a clientele available who is willing to spend the money associated with such services and products. All of this means an increase to the local economy.

All the stores, restaurants, and entertainment in the world will mean nothing if you cannot offer a luxurious place to lay your head. Therefore, all of the new hotels offer incredible accommodations. These accommodations include huge rooms. Some suites rival the size of houses with square footage ranging into the forty-five hundred ranges. Many are two stories with professional kitchens, spacious bathrooms, and expensive imported features. While wealthy tourists spend their money on the strip, in casinos, and at restaurants, they come to Las Vegas because of the high end suites in which they will be sleeping. These rooms are top notch and attract millionaires from all over the world.

Due to these luxury qualities, Las Vegas has not only increased the amount of people that visit the city, but also the financial quality of those visitors, thereby increasing the local economy of the region.

Top Beach Vacation Spots In The World

Autor: infocus

One of the most telltale signs of going on a luxurious vacation is having a tan. If you want to impress your friends when you return from your next vacation you should choose one of these great beaches.

1. Copacabana Beach, Brazil

With clear sandy beaches and sparkling water it is rated as one of the best beaches in the world. With a backdrop of the rolling hills of Brazil, you will not only find yourself tanning here but also enjoying the beautiful scenery. In addition to being a great place for tanning and for enjoying the landscape, Copacabana Beach is rarely quiet. There is always something happening on this beach so get out there if you can.

2. Waikiki Beach, Oahu (Hawaii)

This is a paradise for vacationers. You will be able to sit in the sand and watch the surfers along the two mile long beach. Hawaiian beaches offer soft sand and spectacular sun. Be sure to stick around at night to see the beautiful sunset across the horizon.

3. Crete, Greece

Greece is naturally one of the most beautiful areas in the world to vacation. As a coastal area, it has over 100 miles of luxurious beaches for you to enjoy. Try the area of Rethimno on the islands northern coast. The beach is beautiful but tends to be crowded, as it is one of the most popular spots on the island. If you are looking for a place to tan in solitude then try elsewhere, as there are plenty of small, secluded beaches scattered around Crete.

4. Baby Beach, Aruba

The soft beaches of Aruba are one of the best beach vacations because the water is so calm and shallow. You can put out a low beach chair for the day and just relax and read a book. If you would rather work on your tan than take a dip, you can spread your beach towel out in the soft Arabian sand that lines the shore of Baby Beach.

5. Newpoprt Beach, Southern California

As one of California's top beaches, Newport provides a hint of the American dream. Lounge with other vacationers and sunbathe or slip into the water for a while. Lifeguards are only on duty during some times during the year.

6. St. John Island, Virgin Islands

St. John Island is technically a National Park. It is located in the beautiful Carribean and the lands are highly undevelopped. Beaches such as Cinnamon Bay are beautiful and also very remote. Bring your significant other or your whole family.

China Tours - My Unforgettable Chinese Kong Fu Tour

By Huiya Chen

If you are looking for Chinese Kong fu excursions, Shaolin, the legendary name always comes into your mind first. Shaolin temple in Dengfeng, Henan province is considered as the origin of Chinese martial art, Kong fu and the Zen Buddhism movement. This article presents my unforgettable Chinese Kong fu tour. It's more than a tour.

Day 1: We arrived at Zhengzhou airport at a sunset afternoon as scheduled. Our tour guide Jenne, a lovely young lady was waiting us then escorted us to Dengfeng Tianzhong Hotel, a four star hotel with nice service and facilities. Our first night at Dengfeng was super exciting.

In Dengfeng, there is a great Shaolin Kong fu performance with 3,000-seat stadium. The performance is supposed to take place every night at 8:00 Pm if the weather permits. We were lucky that day with a good weather and had a chance to see.

The theatre is located in Daxian Valley, south suburb of Dengfeng City, and is 7km far from Shaolin temple. This is not an ordinary Kong fu performance, but put on by the best directors and actors on the stage that you can not imagine until you actually see it through your eyes. The main stage is a valley, and the mountains lie vertically, with clear marks of near, middle and far scenes. There are brooks, forests and bridges in the valley, all of which are factors forming the practical performance. We can sit on prayer mats around the brook in the wind, watch the water, hear the music of zen and appreciate the performance, with our mind eased and relaxed. This incredible performance is something that words cannot describe. It is worthy to see.

Day 2 we got up early and our destination was definitely Shaolin temple. The first interesting thing in the early morning that day was to see thousands of students practicing outside in the grassy fields. They are from different ages, the oldest one is over 70 and the youngest one is only 5 or 6 years old. But everybody looks so concentrate and serious. It is amazing to watch them.

Long before I visited China, I was told that all martial arts (Kong Fu) were from Shaolin. Shaolin temple is my dreaming place. I believe that each martial art fan will be immediately inspired by the first sight of the Shaolin temple. A beautiful old red colored temple with green deviations welcomes each visitor and the broad stone stairs say "Come in". Above the entrance is a sign "Shao Lin Si" in Chinese characters. The board with the golden inscription was already written in the Qing dynasty by emperor Kangxi (1662-17721). We spent a whole morning to feel the atmosphere of the Chinese kong fu in the temple.

There are many cultural relics inside Shaolin temple. There are over 300 ancient stone inscriptions, some of them by famous calligraphers. The Forest of Pagodas is the must-see on a Shaolin temple tour. There are 232 pagodas from different dynasties and the oldest pagoda was from the Tang Dynasty. The pagodas were the tombs of the celebrated Shaolin monks.

Recommended 4 days and 3 nights China trip including the Shaolin Temple:

Day 1: Arrive in Zhengzhou

Arrive in Zhengzhou. Be met at the airport & transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Zhengzhou - Dengfeng

Activities For Kids in Akumal Mexico

By Macon Gravlee Platinum Quality Author

If you bring the children to Akumal on vacation, there are many things available which are perfect for the younger members of the family. It's important to keep the kids busy and interested in all of the exciting activities available in Akumal.

Aside from touring the local Mayan ruins, snorkeling is maybe the most popular activity for all visitors to Akumal, and some of the locations are especially perfect for the children. With a few safety precautions, the kids can partake in this fun with little chance of injury or accident.

Properly fitted life vests should be worn by each child. Most villas provide these life vests free of charge. These will not only stop deadly accidents in the water, but will help to cover their torso and stop sunburn in this area. It should also be applied frequently to avoid major skin damage from the hot Caribbean sun!

Yal-Ku Lagoon offers an outstanding location for young snorkelers. The calm waters of the area are free of choppy waters and big waves, allowing them to view the bright ocean life easily. The bay in front of the houses in South Akumal also is perfect because of the reef blocking the waves.

A day at the beach is loved by everyone, and the children can occupy themselves with the white sand all day long. Buckets and shovels give the chance to make sand castles while you rest and watch the kids play. A sandy beach in front of your rental is a major plus. Most rental villas also have a fresh water pool with a Jacuzzi for the family to use. Many also have kyacks for you to paddle.

Always discuss with the children the importance of being aware of your location before a day at the beach. They should not play on turtle nests or dig around in them for fear of destroying eggs buried beneath the sand.

The Jungle Place is a great place to take the animal-loving children in the family. It is a sanctuary for spider monkeys situated four miles south of Akumal neat the town of Chemuyil. Here, they can view many of the local wild animals which are caged or chained for safety. They may also play with the monkeys and talk to the many big parrots located here.

Places like Xel Ha, Hidden Worlds, Dolphin Adventures and Actun Chen also offer excitement for everyone in the family, and are good for even the smaller kids. Hike the jungle to cenotes, visit a cave, ride the zip-line in the jungle, swim with the dolphins, tube down a river, jump from a cliff, or eat homemade ice cream available at many of the local eateries. They are all within a few minute drive of Akumal.

Determining whether your children are adventurous, interested in animals and nature, or simply enjoy to play in the water all day will help you to pick the proper activities for them to partake in. Talk with your kids about what they would like to see and do while in Akumal, and try to do at least one activity that even the kids want to experience.

3 Must-See Festivals in Singapore

By Gabriel Tan

With its multi-ethnic population, Singapore celebrates a myriad of festivals throughout the year. If you plan on visiting Singapore, you'll enjoy mingling with the locals during these festivals. Here are 3 festivals in Singapore which visitors would not want to miss.

Thaipusam Festival (moving date, January or February)

Thaipusam is a festival to honor the Hindu deity, Lord Subramaniam. It is a time for Hindus to perform acts of penance or to give thanks for answered prayers.

In the weeks leading to Thaipusam, devotees spend up to a month praying and fasting. When the day arrives, friends and family help to load a cage-like steel frame onto the devotee's body. This frame, which is also called a kavadi, may weigh up to 30kg! It is elaborately decorated with images of Hindu deities and peacock feathers.

Now, if you think this is some weight training of sorts, think again. From the frame of the kavadi, numerous spikes extend inwards into the devotee's flesh. Then, there are the skewers that go through the devotee's cheeks and tongue. As if this is not enough, oversized fish hooks cling precariously to the devotee's back. Quite amazingly, nobody cringes and nobody bleeds!

Then, just when you think that the man has been punished enough, he goes on a 4km procession with all these punctures on his body, often skipping and dancing along the way! Should you be in Singapore at this time, don't miss Thaipusam. See it to believe it.

Chinese New Year (moving date, January or February)

Chinese New Year is probably the most loved Chinese festival. It originated in China, where it is also called the Spring Festival because farming communities traditionally 'welcome the Spring'. In modern times, it is a season to put the past behind and look forward to the future.

In Singapore, Chinese families begin the celebrations by shopping for Chinese New Year goodies and decorations.

In the 3 or 4 weeks leading to Chinese New Year's Day, the streets of Chinatown bustle with roadside stalls and throngs of shoppers. You know that the season has arrived when you see those quaint Chinese lanterns start to hang from buildings. If you are in town, remember also to check out the acrobats at Telok Ayer Square. See them bend, contort and perform stunts to rapturous applause.

Apart from the usual reunion dinner and visits to friends and relatives, Chinese Singaporeans look forward to the River Hong Bao Carnival.

Held at the Esplanade Park, the River Hong Bao is a place to see age-old Chinese beliefs in action. Look out for the incredibly huge lanterns representing the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Around the Golden Tree of Wishes, the locals make their wishes and then throw coins at the Tree for good luck. Watch and be amused, or join in the fun, for all the money collected is donated to charity.

Then when you have had your fill, head for the Esplanade Bridge to enjoy the fireworks display.

The Orchard Road Christmas Light Up (Mid-November to End of December)

For more than 20 years now, the Orchard Road Christmas Light Up has captivated both locals and visitors to Singapore. In fact, 20% of visitors at the Christmas Light Up are repeat visitors.

If you head down to Orchard Road during this time, you will obviously find the usual Christmas fare - dramas and carols performed by church groups.

But perhaps you will be most enchanted by the Christmas lights. Uncountable fairy lights, bells and baubles hang over Singapore's main shopping belt. They adorn the entire 5km stretch from Orchard Road to Marina Bay. Take a ride on an open-top double-decker bus, or watch from the road-side as the Christmas floats make their way through this Fairyland of sorts. It'll remind you of that first visit to Disneyland and its magical Parade of Floats.

If you come from the Northern Hemisphere, this is a great chance to experience Christmas with a difference, right in the warmth of the Tropics.

Dubai – The Visitors Guide

By: Dan Oldfield

Dubai is located within the Gulf States and is the second largest of the United Arab Emirates. Despite being right in the centre of this oil rich area, Dubai’s revenue from oil accounts for only 6% of its gross domestic product. However, Dubai is hugely innovative and successful in construction and development in various industries and is a great example of progress. Dubai has developed itself into a worldwide attraction in that it has burgeoned into a spectacular modern city from what was once a small desert port.

Transport Options to Dubai

As far as getting to Dubai, the vast majority of visitors from afar fly. Dubai is located in the centre of the desert among the Gulf States. Therefore, it is highly recommended that flying is the chosen option for getting there.

Accommodation Options

Dubai is a very luxurious city and that is reflected in the hotels there. One of the most impressive is the landmark Sails hotel that stands proud at the waterfront and is a dominant and striking sight. Dubai also has a range of standard hotels to accommodate for all needs and budgets.

Dubai History

As far as history and cities are concerned, Dubai was a late developer and didn’t establish itself as a large fishing port until the early nineteenth century. However, the city really started to grow tremendously during the seventies. Due to the interest from foreigner traders, Dubai has successfully established itself with the international commerce market and now relies less on oil.

Sights and attractions

The buildings are the most spectacular features to see in Dubai. Also, check out The Dubai museum as it provides a great introductory knowledge on the Emirates. The recently developed Palm Island is a man made complex that from the air appears as a palm tree. Another outstanding project that is currently being developed in Dubai is The World. This is a series of man made islands that are specifically shaped and sized to form and resemble the World from an aerial view.

Eating and Drinking

The city of Dubai is renowned for its impressive range of international cuisine. Restaurants are the most common option of dining choice although the prices are a bit high. There are plenty of pubs, bars and entertainment areas for those looking for some late night fun.

Shopping

If you like shopping and are heading for Dubai then you are going to the right place. Shopping is one of the most common excuses to visit this desert city. You can buy just about anything in Dubai and much of it is at bargain prices.

Premier And Luxurious Dubai Hotels

Jumeirah owns the Emirates Towers hotel, the Jumeirah Beach hotel, the Madinat group of hotels, which includes Mina A Salam, Al Qasr & the Madinat Souk which houses the largest swimming pool in the Middle East. Jumeirah also owns the amazing desert hotel, Bab Al Shams, located in the desert with sand dunes rolling from its perimeters and making a fantastic landscape for the falcon shows and camel riding they offer.

All Jumeirah hotels have amazing architecture and are worth a visit for this alone. This, together with their famous customer service values, makes them a great choice for visitors to Dubai. For a true taste of Arabia, visit the Madinat Souk, part of the Madinat and Mina A Salam complex located on Jumeirah beach. This resort offers 42 restaurants overlooking the Burj Al Arab and each is situated on the edge of their very own canal. Watch the dhows transport the hotel guests around this vast complex on their waterways and lagoon. It really is a beautiful spot for a sundowner or a meal incorporating food from all over the world.

There are many other famous branded hotels in Dubai, from The One and Only Royal Mirage to Hiltons, Sheratons (both beach and airport locations), the Kempinski Group, Shangri La Group and Crown Plaza among many others. Most hotels are at 5 star standard, however there are some lower cost hotels such as the 4 star Al Manzil hotel, located behind the world’s tallest building the Burj Dubai nestling in its own Arabian style architecture and complementing the huge sky rise buildings surrounding it.

The Grosvenor House hotel located in Dubai Marina is a fantastic venue for staying or visiting their restaurants and bars. Have a drink in Bar 44 located on the 44th floor of the hotel and offering amazing views of the Marina area, and then take the express lift down to the fabulous Buddha Bar for a fusion of Thai and international cuisine.

All 5 star hotels in Dubai have pools, gyms and restaurant facilities with many offering spa areas as well. Of course the crème de la crème of spa facilities has to be located within the 7 star hotels of the Burj Al Arab, where reservations are recommended and the environment is so much part of the treatment you will never want to leave!

Many hotels also offer apartment facilities so if you are here longer term and want to experience more of the home comforts, these are a great option.

Other companies capitalizing on the huge tourism market here are with their Versace Palazzo hotel and the Trump Towers hotel (located on the famous Palm Island). Versace should be opening its doors to the international elite during 2008 with the Trump Tower hotel opening scheduled to be around early 2010.

Ranging from amazing desert hotels, luxury beach hotels and fantastic corporate hotels in the city, Dubai offers an eclectic mix to choose from. However, all are within close proximity of all tourist facilities, shopping malls and attractions as well as its fantastic beaches - you can't go far wrong with any location. Most city business hotels located along Sheikh Zayed road also have affiliations with beach hotels and will transport you to the beach during your stay.
